The risk of knee injury increases with age
Knee function is affected by physical changes

.Joint cartilage that absorbs shock, becomes thinner with aging, weight gain and muscle loss. On average, the thickness of the cartilage in a 65-year-old man is approx. 40-50% thinner, than that of a 20-year-old man.*1Weight gain increases the load on legs by 2.8 times.

A man weighing 64kg in 20's will have the load increased in his legs by 28kgf*2 if his weight increases by 10kg by the time he reaches his 40's.
*1: According to a study by Shinichiro Ishii, associate professor at Kanagawa University of Human Services, et al.
